Observed man with a large kitchen knife: – Unpleasant
Emergency services in Trøndelag have been transferred to Byåsen with some patrols, following reports of a man with a knife.
– The police have control over a man, the police wrote on Twitter soon after.
Operations manager Wenche Johnsen confirmed to TV 2 that they received the first report around 9:30 a.m., and a man was taken into custody and on his way to the police station.
– Someone must have passed by the person in question, and then the man took a knife. It was described as a large kitchen knife, said Johnsen of the first report to police.
Shortly thereafter, police received a new report from another person who was said to have witnessed the incident. This person had more information about where the man had moved, which in turn led to the police gaining control of the man.
The operations manager described the arrest as undramatic and that no one should be hurt in the incident.
– Did you talk to the witnesses? How did they experience the situation?
– None of them were threatened. The first was sitting in the car and the second saw it from his apartment. But it’s clear that when you see someone picking up a knife and looking at you, it’s uncomfortable, says Johnsen.
Police would not say whether any seizures were made at this time, but are investigating the case further in the future.
