The Center Party in the Oslo City Council will mark and celebrate religious holidays in public spaces, both Christian and religious minorities.
The party has now submitted a personal proposal to the city council in this regard, he wrote exclamation.
– Oslo is a diverse city with great religious diversity, and it is also important to highlight the celebration of minority holidays, said city council representative Morten Edvardsen (Sp).
He believes that this is a positive thing to do.
– The Center Party believes in a religious open society, not a religion free society. The fact that we participate in each other’s holidays exclusively is positive for society. We learn more about our neighbors, break prejudices and often enjoy high culture, whether through music, food or the performing arts, says Edvardsen.
Representatives for Oslo Sp pointed to Great Britain as inspiration.
– London celebrates id with a big folk festival in Trafalgar Square, which Oslo could be an inspiration for. To show that Oslo is an open-minded city, we must therefore find ways to celebrate and mark some of the religious holidays in our city.
