MADRID, April 14. (EUROPEAN PRESS) –
More than six in ten Britons have little or no interest in the coronation of King Charles III, scheduled for May 6, according to a survey showing young people’s particular distance from this historic act for the Royal House, unprecedented in the past. 70 years.
The survey, prepared by firm YouGov from more than 3,000 interviews, reflects that 65 percent of those surveyed were not particularly concerned about the coronation, a figure that rises ten points in the case of people aged between 18 and 24 and drops to 53 percent in among those over 65 years of age.
This division by age was also apparent when asked about the likelihood of participating in the event or at least seeing it, as only 31 percent of young people considered this to be small or very likely, while among older people the proportion increased to 62 percent. .
The British Royal House plans to gather around 2,000 guests, including some as controversial as Prince Henry, who will eventually arrive alone, without his wife or children. 46 percent of those surveyed were not directly concerned about whether or not to attend or at which company, while 27 percent believed that neither youngest son Carlos III nor his wife, Meghan Markle, should attend.
The coronation will take place at the heart of Westminster Abbey, in London, and will restore a British tradition that had not been celebrated since Elizabeth II’s accession, seven decades earlier. Carlos III, however, has acted as King since the death of his mother, on September 8, 2022.
