Ask the government to pay attention to the teachers

Teachers should have more than others in the payroll this year, demands Steffen Handal of the Education Association. Both sides of the negotiating table believe the government should be involved.

– Every time we sit at the table with KS, there is a risk of ending up with a strike, said Steffen Handal, Head of the Association for Education in West Nusa Tenggara.

– In recent years, KS has submitted proposals for solutions that we have not been able to accept. I hope it ends now. I hope they see that they are not benefiting from another strike in the municipal sector, he warned.

Unio’s main organization gathered for a collective bargaining policy conference before the weekend and put forward proposals that this year increased purchasing power would be required for all groups within the organization – and that city employees should have more than what frontline professional frameworks dictate.

But it doesn’t stop there. Teachers also have to earn more than others in the municipal sector, according to the Education Association.

Unio leader Ragnhild Lied confirmed to NTB that city government employees should get more than a 5 percent increase in pay this year. Hand-held newspaper to talk about certain numbers. Terms have not been adopted. The Union’s collective agreement policy statement will be adopted on Wednesday next week.

Now, Handal is asking the government to intervene before negotiations on this year’s temporary settlement begin. He did as KS did – and asked the finance minister to put money on the table for a solution that averted another conflict that had inflamed the city sector.

– If the municipal sector is to be able to overcome the challenges it has, then a higher salary framework is needed here. So the government should stand up and know the visiting hours. The alternative is that we will continue to have a shortage of nurses and teachers in the future, said Handal.
