A group of organizations and personalities related to the defense of human rights will send on Saturday two letters addressed to the ambassador from the United Kingdom in Argentina, Kirsty Hayes, where they demanded that the founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, not be extradited to the United States, and asked for his release.
The initiative, which will take place at 12 in front of the British Embassy in Buenos Aires (located at Calle Luis Agote 2412), was coordinated by the group Libertad Assange Argentina and Free Assange Wave in response to a call from the Norwegian collective Set Julian Gratis so that the same letter was sent globally in various cities in the world, the organizing group of the activity informed Télam.
Global scope of action for now limited to two spearhead countries: Norway and Argentina. Others will follow in the coming weeks.
The act consisted of sending letters written by Chris Hedges, a Pulitzer Prize-winning American journalist and advocate for Assange’s cause.
“There will be no freedom of the press if there is no freedom for Julian Assange”said Hedges in his text.
In Oslo, the references involved are actress Liv Ullman and other figures from Scandinavia.
In Buenos Aires, a group of referrals will send Hedges letters and letters of their own, signed by figures from human rights, politics, and culture.

“The United Kingdom has the sovereign possibility to set an international precedent in defending Press Freedom as a human right,” they said in it.
