Citala, Chalatenango. Senior representatives from the UK and Russia participated on Sunday in the “first cupping and sampling of specialty coffees from the Trifinio region”, an initiative that seeks to promote this product and explore new markets internationally.
Vice President Félix Ulloa was accompanied by the British Ambassador, Patrick Lelliott, and the Charge d’Affaires of the Russian Federation, Alexander Khokholikov. Plan Trifinio El Salvador’s National Executive Director, Jorge Urbina, among other national figures, also participated.
The latter praised the government’s support in the revival of agriculture and coffee, as important stakes for the economic takeoff of the country as well as “other fundamental contributions to the Trifinio region expressed in health, education, connectivity, technology transfer and especially the project promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture called” Receto”.
With this project, controlled production is implemented through high-tech greenhouses, technical assistance to manufacturers, as well as support in the design and marketing of their products.
Urbina pointed out that Plan Trifinio was honored by the interest shown by the British and Russian representatives, to whom he assured them that El Salvador would continue to work on the sustainable management and conservation of the Trifinio Fraternidad Transfrontier Biosphere Reserve because of the importance that the ecosystem and biodiversity they have for the region this and international.
In a cupping organized by Plan Trifinio and with support from the Agency for Transboundary Socio-Economic Development, -ADET-, three winners of the regional excellence cup participated: Antonio Ticas, Octavio Umaña and Carlos Murcia.
