Man in his 70s died after fire in Stryn – relatives were told
An adult male has been confirmed dead as a result of a fire at a residential building in Olden township in the municipality of Stryn at 02:00 am on Thursday.
The man received lifesaving first aid at the scene, but was confirmed dead an hour later.
There were two people in the house when the fire started. Another person, a woman, was taken to hospital for observation but was not seriously injured.
Relatives have been notified.
– It was reported that there were two men and a woman who were in the house when the fire broke out. They had evacuated themselves out of the house. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they started extinguishing and administering first aid to the man, police wrote in a press release.
– The other people did not appear to be injured, operations manager Steinar Hausvik told TV 2.
At around 02.00 the police received a report about a fire in Innvik. There was an open fire at the scene, and police stated that there had been a fire on both floors of the house.
Just before 05:00, the operations manager declared that the fire was out. Demolition will take place in the coming hours. The house is completely run down.
The fire is believed to have started in the basement of the house.
Police were notified of the fire at 2:03 a.m. on Thursday night.
