MADRID, December 25 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Iranian authorities have reported this Sunday that they have arrested at least seven people in Iran’s Kerman (southeast) province who were part of an “organized network” suspected of having links with Britain in the context of protests in the country.
The detainees of the alleged network, called “Zagros”, were involved in “the planning, directing and production of content, as well as the organization and rise of protests” in Iran, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Kerman reported.
The social media accounts of the seven people involved, some of whom are dual nationals, and who attempted to flee the country, according to Tehran, have been suspended, as reported by state news agency IRNA.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards recently confirmed that more than 300 people have been killed since the start of the protests, which was the first official balance since the start of mobilization over the death of Amini, a member of Iran’s Kurdish minority. This figure is lower than that given by the Iranian Human Rights NGO, which shows more than 400 deaths due to repression by security forces.
