To comply with the DSA, Snap has announced that it will offer users in member countries a guide explaining personalization on the social network in a simple way, so they can “better understand why content is being shown to them” and opt-out. with non-personalized options in the two sections mentioned.

It will also notify users if any of their posts or accounts have been removed for violating the Community Guidelines, along with an explanation of why. It is also possible to appeal this decision.

While the company will initially implement news about deleted content in the European Union, it has confirmed that it will expand it to the global community in the coming months.

Another change involves ad personalization. For accounts under the age of 18, advertisers can only access basic information, such as age, language or location, to serve ads based on these parameters. This measure will apply in the EU and UK.

Users over the age of 18 will be able to access an explanation of why they saw certain ads as well as options to limit ad personalization.
