Sunak paid more than a million pounds in taxes since 2019

MADRID, March 22 (EUROPA PRESS) –

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has finally released financial records for his last three fiscal years, showing he has paid more than £1 million in taxes since 2019.

Since becoming the country’s prime minister, Sunak has advocated for publishing his financial records. Facing criticism from the opposition, the British Prime Minister stated in early February that he would take the measure “immediately”, but it was not until Wednesday that these were published.

Specifically, according to the documents, Sunak earned in the last fiscal year 2021-2022 more than £1.9 million (2.1 million euros), coming to pay more than £430,000 (486,000 million) in taxes compared to that included in 2019 – -over one million pounds– and taxes paid in that fiscal year: over 227,300 pounds (256,900 euros).

In this way, in three years, from 2019 to 2022, the British Prime Minister, who delayed the publication of this data citing scheduling problems, has already paid more than a million pounds in taxes, the BBC reports.

Sunak, who came under pressure last month after it was revealed that his wife, Akshata Murty, had a tax domicile outside the UK, is one of the wealthiest members of the British Parliament, something the opposition has used to criticize the president.

While there is no long tradition of prime ministers publishing their tax returns, some of Sunak’s predecessors have chosen to do so, such as former Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron or ‘prime minister’ Theresa May, who did so on his stage as Tory leader. .

The details of Sunak’s tax returns also coincide with the appearance of former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who has never published his financial data, before the UK Parliament’s Privileges Committee over the scandal known as ‘Partygate’.
