TV channel Geo TV reported on Thursday that Pakistan’s Supreme Court believes that the arrest of the country’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan was unlawful.

They still did not order him released. Reuters news agency first reported that it had issued such an order, but this was not true.

According to Geo TV, the Supreme Court said that Khan must accept the decision taken by the court in the capital, Islamabad.

Khan himself made serious statements about the arrest.

– I became kidnapper from court in Islamabad. I was beaten with a stick, the former prime minister claimed according to Ary News, quoted by Reuters.

– I don’t know what happened in the country after the arrest, he continued.

Journalist Ihtisham Ul Haq informed via Twitter that Imran Khan has now left the Supreme Court.

Pakistan’s biggest cities have been marked by street fighting and rioting since Khan’s arrest on Tuesday.

Thousands of people flocked to the streets on Tuesday. They showed support for the former prime minister, who since last summer has been under investigation for threats to police and the judiciary.

Dozens of heavily equipped police officers swarmed Khan, ushering him into an armored vehicle as they arrested him.

Protesters responded by blocking the highway. They tore down road signs and sections of railings on pedestrian bridges, lit fires in the streets and threw stones.
