MADRID, December 5 (EUROPA PRESS) –
UK Labor leader Keir Starmer will support plans on Monday to transfer power from the Westminster political center to the regions in what will be the “largest transfer of power in history” from the country’s parliament.
Labor have indicated that a key element involves a massive transfer of power from Westminster to their area, as “the center has not delivered”.
“At the next election, Labor will stand by its promise of new power to cities, towns, regions and countries to jump-start our economy, while weeding out the irresponsibility of Westminster and restoring confidence in our politics.” , explained the Labor Party leader in an article published in the newspaper ‘The Guardian’.
Labor called for the abolition of Lord’s rule to “end the undue influence of foreign money and wealth, and prevent lawmakers from working part time.”
“We have an unbalanced economy, which uses very little talent from very few people in very few places,” Starmer said, as the paper reported.
“We will have a higher standard of public life, a wider distribution of power and opportunity, and a better economic growth that benefits everyone, everywhere. By setting our sights higher, wider and better, we can build a better future together”, said the British politician.
Starmer will join former Prime Minister Gordon Brown on Monday for the launch of the Future of Britain Commission which makes recommendations on reforming the House of Lords, devolution of power and the future of unions.
Brown, who has released reports on the country’s future, recommended reforms to “cleanse politics”. These steps will be consulted with parties to decide on their acceptance, reported News Sky.
