The person responsible for signing the agreement on behalf of Britain was the Minister for America and the Caribbean, David Rutley, who arrived in Havana last Tuesday, according to reports from the British embassy on the island on social networks.

“We want to strengthen the relationship between the UK and Cuba, and that is why I look forward to signing the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement,” Rutley said in a statement.

The British minister added that the bilateral agreement would make it easier for Britain to address “issues of importance to both countries such as human rights and the embargo” with Havana.

Upon arrival in Cuba, the British ambassador to the island, Sir George Hollingbery, stated that they were “pleased” to receive Minister Rutley on his first official visit and that “we look forward to discussing the various issues at hand. win-win solution.” for England and Cuba.”

During his first official visit to the Caribbean country, Rutley met with the Cuban regime’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez, and with representatives of several UN agencies. He also plans meetings with local businesspeople, among others.
