He also highlighted that the Dominican Republic is the second country with the largest air connectivity in the Americas in 2023, as measured by the International Air Transport Association, the third country with the most maritime connections based on the number of countries in the region, and the country with the best postal delivery times in the region , according to the World Bank’s logistics performance index (LPI).
He also detailed that there were 109 exporters who carried out the process digitally (paperless) and the number of countries it exports to from the Dominican Republic increased from 15 in 2020 to 64 different countries today.
The most exported product currently from the Dominican Republic to the UK is bananas at 41.63%; banana, 28.48%; and in a smaller proportion, identifiable devices for use on stomata, avocados, and items for personal care and hygiene.
Meanwhile, the director of ProDominicana, Biviana Riveiro, in her participation revealed that global exchanges between the two countries also grew by more than 15% last year and have quadrupled in the last 10 years.
“Direct investments continue to flow, and in 2023 we have more than 25 million dollars,” explains Riveiro.
Amauris Vásquez, president of the British Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (BRITCHAM DR) and Elnio Durán, Dominican ambassador to the UK, emphasized that the aim of Dominica Week is for British entrepreneurs to understand the competitive advantages that the Dominican Republic has to offer. and commercial exchange was encouraged.
Meanwhile the British Ambassador, Mockbul Alí, reiterated that relations between the two countries had quadrupled in the last 10 years and highlighted that the Dominican Republic offered “tremendous” opportunities for British companies.
