BRUSSELS, December 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The European Union and the United Kingdom had sealed a deal on Tuesday for 2023-compliant fishing quotas in a common fishing ground in the Atlantic Ocean, the European Commission reported in a statement.

This is the third agreement, following the ‘Brexit’, for the joint management of all fishing resources in EU and UK waters. It sets limits on the total allowable catch for 2023 for the shared population, as well as mutual access to albacore fisheries.
The agreement follows scientific advice from the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) on the status of the species and takes into account the principles of sustainability and management. Now Twenty-Seven will include the catch limits agreed with Great Britain in the 2023 fishing quotas, approved at the Fisheries Council which annually approves a possible European fleet.
