One of the two adorable ducks in the artwork “Double Ducks” has “died” in the hot weather in Hong Kong.
The warm weather causes the air inside the duck to begin to expand. One of them must be stretched.
Due to safety reasons, it was deflated.
– It was decided that the air should be removed immediately by loosening the seams, to avoid potential risks, said the exhibition organizer.
Now half of the 18 meter high work of art must be repaired.
The work was created by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman, and was unveiled on Friday.
– Double duck, double luck, Hofman said of the piece, or something that sounds more like “double duck, double luck” in English. He hopes the work will contribute to happiness in Hong Kong.
Reactions to Saturday’s burnout conditions were somewhat mixed:
– It makes us wonder if double happiness is possible in Hong Kong. If you look at the duck, you might find the answer, office worker Snow Wong told the AP.
He believed the artwork was more interesting this way.
– Having two ducks is really special. I really hope they fix it before I leave Hong Kong tomorrow, said Annita Lei, who lives on a ferry ride away in Macau.
– We expected to see two endings, but the sweet one has been emptied. It might be too hot in Hong Kong, tourist Tiffany Chen told Reuters.
In case you’re wondering: No, neither of the two ducks in Hong Kong is the biggest duck in the world. The record went to the American artwork “Mama Duck”, which was 0.3 meters taller than the yellow duo Hofman.
