In the context of its participation in the 76th WHO World Health Assembly, in Geneva, the Minister of Health, Ximena Aguilera, met with colleagues from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, William fifteen, to formalize the work that the two countries’ technical teams have been developing for two years.
To further strengthen cooperation and bonds between researchers and the scientific community, strive to share best practices, policies and information on effective healthcare, authorities sign a Memorandum of Understanding, which includes items related to policy exchange on health system architecture, vaccination strategies, obesity, mental health, and the role of policy formulation evidence-based to achieve the best results in medical treatment.
“We really believe in that all the challenges facing the health system cannot be overcome by any country alone. The topics included in this memo show us where common challenges still lie ahead. The vaccination process, health technology assessment or health agenda and digital information are areas where we have been able to build a space of collaboration that allows us to grow together,” stressed the Minister of Health, Ximena Aguilera.
The document signed by Chile and the United Kingdom addresses various areas of cooperation, such as conducting activities to exchange information and best practices in health policy on healthy weight, diet and nutrition to promote healthy lifestyles and tackle obesity; collaboration to strengthen global health security and to build capacity to prepare for and respond to pandemics and other public emergencies of international concern.
Along with the above, it is also included encourage knowledge exchange and sharing of best practices regarding vaccination procedures; and shared experiences that strengthened the development of the mental health systems of both countries.
It is important to note that, since March 2022, the Ministry of Health of Chile has developed collaborative work with the UK on Health Technology, Immunization and Global Health Assessments.
In fact, this year it was held in Chile Day of Exchange of experiences in Digital Health where the structure and way of operating the health systems of the two countries was discussed; implementation of Digital Health, participation of non-health actors, use of information sources; among others.
