– This is sports history. We are invited to one of the biggest sporting events in the world. I am very proud that we got this opportunity. It’s a big day for the team. And it’s a big day for Norwegian sport, Jens Haugland told the NTB news agency. He is the boss of the Uno-X team.

This year, Alexander Kristoff will also be racing for the team. He is one of the most successful Norwegian cyclists in the Tour de France. This year he may have to do it for the Norwegian team.

Organizers of the Tour de France said on Wednesday that Uno-X and team Israel Premier-Tech would earn the final two spots in this year’s competition.

But Haugland had known it for several days. He received a message from the organizers as early as January 1st.

It is expected that Premier-Tech Israel will get one of the two places. But there’s a lot more excitement about who will get second place. However, many have long believed that the Uno-X is a good candidate.

– At the same time, it is far from sitting down feeling that we can participate, to knowing that they want us to participate. It seemed surreal to a kid from Trøndelag, says Haugland.

– What does this mean for the team?

– It means we were invited because we are pretty good at what we do. Now we travel to France with ambition. We travel to perform, says Haugland.

The Tour de France lasts three weeks. About 150 million people in 190 countries took part in the competition. This year the competition starts in the city of Bilbao in Spain. It begins on July 1 and ends with a stage in Paris on July 23.

The Uno-X women’s team will also take part in the Tour de France.
