The featured teaser tells us: “The world’s most popular game has come true”, then shows the participants leaving their rooms and going to the game “Red Light, Green Light” – Features a large assassin doll that, in the fictional series, turns its head and shoots bullets to finish off moving players.
The reality show, which was first announced in June 2022, was filmed at two studios in the UK and produced by Studio Lambert and The Garden. The winner will take a cash prize of 4.56 million dollars.
But filming was not easy, as production took place during a cold weather in England that saw some of the contestants examined by doctors at least eleven times. Several contestants, who were not paid to appear on the show, described candidates passing out on set, most likely due to a combination of cold and exhaustion during the eight hours of preparation time before the bout started.
The streaming service and producer responded that all necessary action had been taken: “We are extremely concerned about the health of our cast and crew, and about the quality of this event. Any suggestion that the competition was rigged or that the entrant was seriously injured is simply wrong. We have taken all appropriate safety measures, including the aftercare of participants, and independent referees oversee every game to ensure it’s fair to everyone.”
