MADRID, November 24 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The UK Government’s cabinet office has ordered various ministry departments to stop installing surveillance cameras made by Chinese companies in places deemed “sensitive” for security reasons.
The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Oliver Dowden, has indicated in a statement that, following a security review, no equipment of this type should ever reconnect to the central network, especially at the most sensitive sites, as reported by the BBC. .
In this regard, the UK Government has stated that, because companies in China must comply with national intelligence laws, which require them to cooperate with Chinese intelligence services, they should no longer be used because they pose a risk to the UK.
“Because security considerations are always paramount at these sites, we are taking steps now to prevent any security risks from occurring,” Dowden said, according to Sky News.
This step was taken after the British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, acknowledged that Beijing was a “systemic challenge” within the framework of the G20 Summit which was held last week in Bali, Indonesia.
