Full of conflict during the NM race
It got really heated between Hanne Mjøen Maridal and Live Johannessen Solheimdal during the 10,000 meters at NM. A finger to the throat covered up what looked like a strong conflict during the race.
After that, Maridal was annoyed in the finishing area after the NM duel which ended with him winning silver for his role in the duel against Solheimdal.
– It will be an intense duel with the inconsistencies we have seen and the contact between them and the cues we have seen, commented NRK’s Jann Post before the final sprint.
The reason is, he allowed himself to be amazed by what happened during the race that determined NM’s gold medal in the 10,000 meters in Sandnes.
After 6,000 meters, Hanne Mjøen Maridal pulled her finger to her throat. Right behind them is Live Johannessen Solheimdal.
Maridal was clearly not satisfied with his rival’s performance during the race.
– A movement that can be interpreted one way and another, Post comments.
After that, Maridal himself gave the following explanation:
– I signaled to my girlfriend. She was standing there screaming. I signaled that it was enough now, Maridal told NRK after the race and pointed out that it was a kind of “silent message” addressed to his girlfriend and not to his rival.
At the same time, it was clear that he was upset with his rival Solheimdal, who took the gold.
– He stepped on me four or five times and I said if you do it one more time, you will continue, Maridal said.
He admitted that he had a short temper and that was known to those who knew him.
Maridal, among others, also raised a warning finger to his opponents along the way, after contact occurred between runners on the track.
Then Solheimdal advanced to the final round. And then Maridal had no chance.
Maridal later believed the silver medal was “undeserved” as the race developed, with him being at the front for most of the race.
Solheimdal, on the other hand, emphasized that Maridal, who has the best press, should hope to progress to the front.
– This is how it is when you are the best. Jakob Ingebrigtsen is the best and has the whole train chasing him. You have to rely on him when you are at your best, Solheimdal told NRK.
He pointed out that he had been ahead of both of them in a number of previous championship races, when he was considered the better of the two. He believes his rivals must have a different focus after a bad race.
– You can’t blame the environment. That didn’t work, Solheimdal said.
