The motive? Potential breach of UK data protection laws by TikTok by failing to protect children’s privacy when using the video-sharing platform.
The Information Commission’s office issued TikTok with legal documents before a possible fine, as well as two investigations.
It notes that in the first investigation, TikTok may have processed the data of children under the age of 13, without proper parental consent.

While the second investigation will focus on TikTok transfers from personal information to China and if the company complies with EU data laws in the transfer of its personal data to countries outside the community block.
