Apple CEO Tim Cook assured that there are still “not enough women at the table” of tech companies, including those he leads.
“There is no good reason” for the lack of women in the sector, Cook said in a statement Interview with BBCwhere he notes that technology “wouldn’t do as much” without a more diverse workforce.
He pointed out that companies cannot escape the problem by arguing that there are not enough female talent in IT careers, so they can’t hire more.
“We have to fundamentally change the number of people studying Computer Science and Programming,” Cook said.
On the occasion of the launch of his development program for female app founders and creators in the UK, Apple’s CEO spoke about the gender gap. “I think the essence of technology and its impact on humanity depends on the presence of women at the table.”
