NOTE statements of concern to the press by National Deputy and presidential candidate Javier Milei and National Deputy candidate, Diana Mondino – both from the political world of “La Libertad Avanza” – who aspire to occupy important positions involving responsibility in the conduct of our country’s foreign policy . The historical position of the Argentine Republic in 190 years has never permitted the unauthorized occupation of part of its territory, considering the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to be the only parties to the conflict over sovereignty regarding the issue of the Malvinas Islands.
REMEMBER that the United Nations has classified the Malvinas Islands issue as a unique and special case of decolonization involving a sovereignty dispute between two States which must be resolved through bilateral negotiations between the two parties, taking into account the interests of their populations. Islands, not “their wishes.” The alleged reference to the islanders as a third party in the dispute was a central component of British diplomatic strategy. No people in the Malvinas Islands who are subjugated, dominated or exploited by foreign powers have the right to self-determination, according to international law and in accordance with the provisions of the UN General Assembly in Resolution 2065 (XX). Rather, the archipelago’s demographic composition is the result of 190 years of colonial occupation since, starting in 1833, the British expelled the Argentine authorities and the population living there, preventing the settlement of Argentine citizens from mainland Argentina. migration policy aimed at preserving the colonial regime in the Islands.
EMPHASIZE that, as stated in Resolution 37/9 on the Malvinas Islands Issue by the United Nations General Assembly, the South Atlantic conflict of 1982 did not change the nature of the sovereignty dispute between Argentina and the United Kingdom and the Northern Kingdoms. Ireland, in the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, the South Sandwich Islands and the surrounding maritime areas, which still awaits a solution and is the only way to end this particular and particular case of decolonization. This is a negotiation between the two parties to find a peaceful and definitive solution.
EMPHASIZES the need for a consistent foreign policy over time and successive democratic governments to restore, by peaceful means and in accordance with international law, the full exercise of Argentina’s sovereign rights over the Malvinas Islands and South Georgia. , South Sandwich and related maritime and marine areas. island space, taking into account the interests of the inhabitants of the Malvinas Islands and Argentina’s constitutional commitment to respect their way of life.
REAFTERING the importance of maintaining democratic political consensus around the issue of the Malvinas Islands as outlined in the first transitional provision of the National Constitution, which stipulates: “The Argentine nation ratifies its legal and irreversible sovereignty over the Malvinas, South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands and the maritime and archipelagic territories thereto concerned, because it is an inseparable part of the national territory. The recovery of these territories and the full exercise of sovereignty, respect for the way of life of their inhabitants, and in accordance with the principles of international law, are the permanent and inalienable goals of the Argentine people.
PROVIDING that, through the Executive Coordination of this National Council, this Declaration is sent to the authorities that constitute the three powers of the State, to candidates for elected offices, to representative institutions of civil society and, via social media, to all the people of Argentina.
