There will be no exceptions to facilitate unforeseen business travel
To request permission, it is necessary to submit via a website or app a photo that allows the authorities to record biometric data, and answer a few questions about the reason for the trip.
The UK government estimates that an authorization will be issued at approx three working daysthough he hopes most will have the green light before that deadline.
London does not plan to introduce exceptions to facilitate unforeseen business travel in the absence of an electronic authorization in effect.
On the other hand, those who do not need to apply for entry permits are Europeans who lived in the country before Brexit and are “permanently resident” in the UK, or legal residents in the Republic of Ireland.
Reciprocal action by the EU
The European Union, for its part, also plans to launch it in 2024 European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS), which would force Britons and tourists from visa-free countries to pay 7 euros for entry permits prior to that valid for three years.
