Trucksters raised 33 million euros for the new series A round

Trucksters, a Spanish transport startup, has raised a series B financing round of 33 million euros where new investors such as Continental, the Volvo group and the European Investment Bank have entered.

In addition, previous investors have participated in this round, such as Spanish funds Kibo Ventures, The Valley VC, Bonsai Partners and BigSur Ventures, along with international funds Amplifier VC and Metavallon VC, and sacha michaudone of the founders of Glovo and a member of the Board of Directors as Non-Executive Chair.

As the company shared in a statement, this financing will strengthen its technology and management teams, expand new corridors and consolidate the company’s presence in international markets, in addition to improving conditions for drivers.

The Trucksters model consists of long-distance freight transport, but uses a truck relay system, based on an artificial intelligence platform and big dataso that the driver does not have to make the entire trip, but takes a shorter trip.

The Spanish startup has a presence in Spain, Belgium, Germany and Poland, and operates in 7 countries: Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Poland, UK, France and Spain. Founded in 2018 by Luis Bardají, Gabor Balogh and Ramón Castro, and works with companies such as Samsung, Bosch, LG, DHL or Nestlé.

Luis Bardají highlighted in the same statement that “when we created Trucksters, we never would have imagined that after so many years we could formalize collaborations like the ones we recently signed with the Volvo Group and Continental. Having them as our shareholders is a dream: safety, a focus on drivers and sustainability and electrification are why Trucksters were created and is a hallmark of both companies.”

“We have a lot to learn from the legacy they have created and we would love to start this new phase together,” he added.

The company ensures that in 2022 its revenue grows by 300% and closes the year with a turnover of 30 million euros. In March last year, he collected 14.3 million euros in Serie A rounds.

The co-founder of Trucksters, a Spanish startup that aspires to revolutionize the global transportation of goods by road, believes the pandemic will accelerate technological developments in the sector.

for this year, one of its main goals is the electrification of its fleet by electric truck. As a share of the company, by the end of 2023 it is expected that at least one of its routes will be 100% electrified. Currently, there are 4 main corridors: the one from Central/North of Spain connected to Dortmund, the one from the Spanish Levant connected to the Benelux and West Germany, the one from the Levant to Poland and last opening this year, it’s a new corridor for the center of Spain connected with Great Britain.

The European Investment Bank’s (EIB) commitment to Trucksters is part of this strategy, and has been delivered through its programme. InvestEUa plan that promotes investment to support common EU political priorities such as digitalization and climate action.
