Ukraine.- Great Britain estimated that Ukraine had recovered “one kilometer” of Bakhmut after the disorganized withdrawal from Russia

MADRID, May 13th. (EUROPEAN PRESS) –

The British Ministry of Defense estimates that Ukrainian troops fighting on the front line in the town of Bakhmut, in the east of the country, have managed to advance one kilometer in the last four days, taking advantage of the messy Russian retreat.

“Over the past four days, elements of the Russian 72nd Separate Motor Rifle Brigade have withdrawn, perhaps in an unorganized manner, on the southern flank of the operation in Bakhmuth. Ukrainian troops have recaptured at least one kilometer of territory”, the Ministry said in its latest assessment of the conflict, which was published this Saturday on his Twitter account.

Last Friday, it must be recalled, the head of the Russian Wagner mercenary group, Yevgeni Prigozhin, confirmed that Russian troops had withdrawn from a total of five kilometers of territory in Bakhmut after the Ministry of Defense reported that Russian units had been created. a “non-tactical withdrawal” to a more profitable front.

According to Prigozhin, troops had made a withdrawal of at least five kilometers, after which Ukrainian troops occupied a “tactical height” from which the city could be seen “at a glance” and made sure that the flank “collapsed”.

According to the British, the area was of tactical importance as it was the “spearhead” of the west side of the Donets-Donbas canal, marking the front through sections of the sector.

London took the opportunity to describe the retreating Russian motorized forces, part of the Russian Third Army Corps, as formations “spoiled by accusations of low morale and limited combat effectiveness” whose “deployment was in a sector as demanding and operationally important” as en Bakhmut,” highlights the severe shortage of reliable combat units in Russia.”
