Regional Secretary for Tourism, Francesc Colomer, also had his moment. As stated by the City Council in a statement, immediately after the session started, mayor Toni Pérez thanked him for his “engagement” in maintaining tourism “and his commitment” to Benidorm, sharing -he said- “the goal of cooperation” .
Pérez emphasized that “Benidorm is a singularity loaded with strength” and favored “brand leadership” and “loyalty”; Loyalty, he said, “which Colomer has reciprocated”, which the Foundation said was “more than deserved” for the recognition given to him this morning when he felt, said Colomer, “just one more server in the sector”.
Colomer indicated the emerging “trust and friendship” with the mayor of Benidorm, whom he presented as “the most important institutional figure in tourism in the Valencian Community”, noting that it was his first visit immediately after taking office. And in successive visits and working contacts he has verified Benidorm’s “value and meaning” in tourism. Finally, the regional secretary highlighted Visit Benidorm’s work in “efficiency, reputation and prestige” and concluded by emphasizing that “everything that it contributes to the Valencian Community can never be returned to Benidorm”.
Finally, the mayor highlighted the “public-private alliance beyond legal interests” and congratulated vice-president Toni Mayor, who has since the Foundation’s inception, as well as secretary, Nuria Montes, the Visit Benidorm team – for “giving prestige to the activity and increasing the reputational value brand Benidorm” – and on the city, “which accompanies the initiatives undertaken”,
Toni Pérez considered it a challenge to shake off familiar clichés about the city and “break barriers” in his “overcome” promotion. Finally, he pointed out that “today we are closing the cycle of the Benidorm Tourism Foundation and we are entering into an administrative transit to the new City Council constitution”, but “without stopping work for Benidorm”.
