Jonas Kristiansen Nøland, professor at NTNU, thinks so. He argued that nuclear power should play a central role in the energy transition – also in Norway.
We feel a generational shift in the debate about nuclear power. Youth parties in a number of parties have advocated investment in nuclear power, and some have brought the parent party with them. FrP, Høyre, Venstre, KrF and Rødt are now positive about nuclear power – in the sense that they are at least open to investigating how nuclear power could be used in Norway.
Minerva has spoken with Jonas Kristiansen Nøland, professor in the Department of Electrical Energy at NTNU, about nuclear power. affiliated Noland NERES Project at NTNU, which investigates the role of nuclear power in renewable energy systems in the Nordics. He believes the time is ripe to assess how nuclear power can be expanded in Norway by 2050.
