Tips to prevent your apps from being uninstalled

Using these results, AppsFlyer makes a series of recommendations to reduce app uninstalls.

  1. Measurement: Understand exactly when, why, and where the uninstaller comes from to minimize it.
  2. First impressions are everything: With uninstall rates the highest on day one, it’s critical that the first experience is smooth and engaging, or you risk losing your acquired users in the blink of an eye.
  3. Keep your promises: Over-promising in an attempt to get downloads can backfire, causing frustration and irreparable damage to your brand.
  4. Tell users about the app before they download it: Use good, highly descriptive ads that include the user in videos and images. The more they understand your app, the less likely they are to uninstall it.
  5. Listen to your users: Encourage continued participation in the app and consider comments on app stores and social networks.
