Although most countries in the world have Republic as a form of statewhere the figure Head of State is held by a president, there are still countries where the government is a monarchy, where the supreme leadership and representation is exercised by the king.
Up to 27 states are governed by a monarchical system. Case great Britainwhere Carlos III had ascended to the throne after the death of Elizabeth II, deserves special mention because, like 54 other nations, it is part of the ‘Commonwealth’ or Commonwealth of Nations. Among them are countries from all over the planet, but Africa and the Caribbean are the regions that account for the most countries to associations: 21 and 12, respectively, in addition to the Pacific.
However, the UK is not the only country that has a monarchy as a form of government. In Europe there are also other countries such as Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Norway, Sweden and also Spain, where the head of state is the king. Asia is also one of the continents where there are more kingdoms.
In the case of Monaco, the Prince of Monaco (Alberto II) is the king and head of state of the Kingdom. Together with Liechtenstein and Vatican Cityis one of only three states in Europe where the king has an active role in politics and government. With respect to Vatican City, the Pope holds full executive, legislative and judicial powers, although he is not called a king. Furthermore, the Pope is the head of the Catholic Church.

Andorra, a sui generis head of state
For all of these countries, there are cases of territories where the Head of State is not run by a king from the Royal Family. This is the case Andorra. Located between Spain and France, it is a sovereign and independent, legal, democratic and social State, whose form of government is a parliamentary co-principal. Andorra has Co-prince, who is the President of the French Republic (Emmanuel Macron) and Bishop Seo de Urgel (Joan-Enric Vives Sicily).
This prince figure back almost ten centuries. Each co-prince appointed a personal representative, the French co-prince was represented by Patrick Strzoda, while the episcopal co-prince was Josep Maria Mauri.
