This Thursday, November 17, is World Prematurity Day. About 15 million babies are born prematurely every year, which is one in ten babies born worldwide. Keeping this in mind, William Hill has launched his new neonatal policy
Today, thousands of parents every year have no choice but to return to work while their baby is in the hospital or spend months on parental leave beside the incubator. That’s why William Hill launched his new Neonatal Leave policy for his UK colleagues.
The “Your Family” policy will now cover:
– Neonatal leave for the parents of a baby who was hospitalized as a newborn while the baby is in neonatal care, provided that the hospitalization lasts for one week or more continuously.
– The right to full pay during maternity leave
– Eligibility to take paid neonatal leave from the first day of work
The policy goes beyond legal entitlements, providing full payment for neonatal hospitalization of one week or more, regardless of how long the colleague has worked for William Hill.
Mark Skinner, director of personnel, said: “Caring for our colleagues remains a priority for us. If our colleagues are faced with concerns about sick or premature babies, it is only natural that we do what we can to support them. I am proud of this commitment and it is another example of why people want to join and want to stay at 888 William Hill.”
Bliss, a charity for premature and sick babies, welcomes our introduction of paid neonatal leave.
Caroline Lee-Davey, CEO of Blisssaid: “Bliss is pleased to learn that William Hill is introducing paid and neonatal leave before this becomes a legal requirement. As the UK’s leading charity for premature and sickly babies, we know the difference it makes for both parents to have this much needed need time to be with their baby in the hospital.Without worrying about rushing back to work, parents can participate in hands-on care, which is very important for your baby to get the best results.”
