The new election appointments arrive this May 28. Millions of Spaniards were called to the polls to determine the political future of thousands of municipalities and the governance of various autonomous communities.
According to Electoral Census data, at the municipal elections on 28 May, 35,414,655 voters will be able to vote; in the autonomous regions as many as 18,382,505 voters; and 124,428 voters will be able to participate in the elections to the Assemblies of the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla.

One of The basic requirement to exercise the May 28 right to vote is to be 18 years old on voting day. However, the Congress of Deputies has debated several times the possibility of lowering the voting age to 16. The last time it appeared was in 2022, on the initiative of the ERC, with the support of Unidas Podemos and Más País.
