Sporting director Sven Mislintat confirmed contact with agent Kjetil Knutsen.
– I talked to his agent. On several topics, Mislintat told the newspaper De Telegraph.
On Thursday, news emerged that John Heitinga who had been a substitute coach since January would not be allowed to continue.
According to De Telegraaf, Mislintat hopes to recruit a new coach soon.
– Interesting profile, offensive football, developing youth players from the academy and performing well at previous clubs, says the Ajax director.
TV 2 has contacted Knutsen’s agent, Morten Wivestad.
– I can confirm what he said. I’ve spoken to Sven on a few different topics but that will be a conversation between us. Beyond that, I have no further comment, Wivestad told TV 2.
– Can Knutsen be the coach of Ajax?
– He’s fully focused on Bodø/Glimt. Besides that, I have no comment.
Kjetil Knutsen commented on the rumors to TV 2 after the cup win over Junkeren.
– There is no reason to be in the Netherlands. I hope I don’t get a hundred questions about it. I’m not good at commenting on rumours, because you are on the wrong track. I relate to the fact that I’m at Glimt, I feel very well here. I think the rumors will just keep coming.
– So you’re not going abroad in the next two weeks?
– No, that wasn’t my plan. My focus is on preparing against VIF for the weekend.
On Tuesday evening, TV 2 reported that Kjetil Knutsen was one of the candidates for the Ajax job, but until then there had been no contact between Ajax and Bodø/Glimt. Read the case here.
