Former Australian presenter and painter Rolf Harris has died aged 93. The British media talked about it on Tuesday. In October last year, Harris was discovered to be suffering from head and neck cancer and could barely speak.
Harris was sentenced to five years and nine months in prison in 2014 for the abuse of four underage girls and one woman between 1968 and 1986. He was released from prison after three years.
Before Harris was convicted of assault, he was a popular TV host for many years. After working in Australia on children’s television from 1960 to 1962, Harris settled permanently in England. He not only worked in the world of TV entertainment there but also hosted a TV series in Canada. He is also active as a painter.
From 1967 he delivered The Rolf Harris Show, which connects music and painting. In 1969, Harris achieved tremendous musical success with two little boys. With this he scored a number 1 hit in the UK.
Through his work on television, he became one of Britain’s best-known entertainers. In 2005 he was commissioned to paint the official portrait of Queen Elizabeth.
