This was confirmed by the British Meteorological Institute’s Meteorological Office. The previous peak was measured on Thursday when the thermometer showed 32.6 degrees.

According to the Met Office, Saturday was also the sixth consecutive day with temperatures above 30 degrees, well above normal for September. Particularly in southern and central England where autumn is warm.

This summer is the eighth summer in England since measurements began in 1884.

June this year was the hottest month ever recorded in the UK, followed by a rain-soaked July and a mixed August.

A heat record in the British Isles was recorded in July last year when temperatures were measured above 40 degrees for the first time.
