London, England | Queen Elizabeth II returned to Windsor Castle, west of London, on Monday and plans to resume her activities after celebrating her seven-decade reign in privacy.
The 95-year-old king, who has largely withdrawn from public life since suffering health problems in October, should “resume his normal activities”, according to the agency. British Press Association.
The queen’s first activities included a diplomatic reception in Windosor on March 2 and a ceremony Commonwealth -which unites 54 countries with historical ties to Britain- on the 14th.
Additionally, a religious ceremony in honor of her late husband Philip will take place on March 29, according to Buckingham Palace.
Isabel II had given her consent in December for this tribute, but the day of the ceremony has not yet been determined.
The announcement comes one day after the queen’s 70th anniversary on the throne.
This Monday -one day after the birthday, February 6, of Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne- the The Royal Horse Artillery of the King’s Armya military unit named after the sultan’s father, the late King George VI, fired 41 cannon fire at the center of Green Park, near Buckingham Palace, in front of hundreds of people.
An hour later, in the famous Tower of London, where the crown jewels are kept, another 62 shots were fired.
Real salvo usually consists of 21 shots, increasing to 41 if shots are fired from real parks or buildings. But if the salvo is executed from a monument in the City of London, as is the case with the Tower of London, it consists of 62 shots (41 plus an additional 21).
On Sunday, in a message issued on the occasion of his Platinum Jubilee, the 95-year-old ruler renewed his commitment to serving the British people.
She also expressed her wish that, after her death, her daughter-in-law Camilla, wife of Prince Charles, would become empress.
Elizabeth II ascended the throne at the age of 25, on February 6, 1952, the same day her father died of lung cancer at the age of 56.
To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee -70 years of his reign- four days of celebration are planned, from June 2 (the day of his coronation in 1953) to June 5, which will include military parades, major concerts, and thousands of popular lunches.
