Gas connection between UK and Europe reduced by 3.5 gw/hr due to filter problem

More problems for Europe in the energy environment: the gas link between the UK and Belgium is currently reducing its capacity by 3.5 gigawatts/hour. The problem is the concentration of dust, dirt and mud clogging one of the filters of the gas pipeline that sends fuel to Europe, and it’s affecting the Bacton plant, in the south of England.

Compared to 2 interruptions a year, usually for maintenance, in 2022 there have been up to 24 interruptions in flow due to these problems. A third of the gas consumed in the UK comes from this plant, in addition to that which is exported to Europe.
