A clue hidden in the ship’s hull for ten years?

ANDHe Snapchat Augmented Reality Studiobased in Paris, France, joined the creative team at Daft Punk to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Random Access Memories on Friday, May 12, 2023. Snapchat Augmented Reality Studio presents “Daft Punk: Memories Unlockedthrough a series of never-before-seen Augmented Reality experiences for fans around the world.

To celebrate this milestone anniversary, Snapchat Augmented Reality Studio has created three Augmented Reality experiences, offering fans and Snapchatters an innovative music experience available exclusively on Snapchat.

Thanks to Snapchat’s innovative Augmented Reality technologies, such as Marker Tech and Image Code, Snapchatters can enjoy immersive Augmented Reality experiences such as scanning images or features that enable geolocated Augmented Reality experiences that can only be accessed in specific places around the world.

AR Experience #1 – ‘Hidden but clearly visible’ clues

On Wednesday, May 10 at 10 a.m., 48 hours before the album’s release, the song Horizon, which was originally included on the 2013 Japanese version of the album, will be presented to the world via Snapchat’s Augmented Reality Glasses. Fans can use Snapchat’s camera to scan the cover of the original Random Access Memories album and find the new glass helmet’s new Augmented Reality Lens, which has been hidden in the silver and gold helmet for over 10 years. By rotating the camera, Snapchatters will be able to put on a glass helmet while listening to a song.

How does it work?

Snapchatters and fans will be able to activate the experience on May 10, 2023 by following these steps:

Open the Snapchat camera

Point your smartphone and scan the silver and gold hulls of the original Random Access Memories album covers (vinyl, cd, streaming platforms)

A new glass shard will appear in full size and in AR over Horizon’s album and song will start playing.

Turn the Snapchat camera towards your face to put the helmet on

Take a photo and send it to your Story or Spotlight to share with your close friends.

AR Experience #2 – Treasure hunt in 10 cities around the world

On Thursday, May 11th, treasure hunts will launch in 10 iconic locations around the world. GPS coordinates will be posted on Daft Punk’s various social media channels to let fans know where to go to find these 10 exclusive new Augmented Reality experiences, created by Snapchat Augmented Reality Studio.

The cities that will host this unique experience are: Paris (France), New York (United States), Los Angeles (United States), London (United Kingdom), Berlin (Germany), Mexico City (Mexico), Tokyo (Japan ), Sydney (Australia), São Paulo (Brazil) and Buenos Aires (Argentina).

How does it work?

Fans and Snapchatters will be able to activate the experience on May 11, 2023 by following these steps:

Follow Daft Punk’s various social networks

Meet up May 11 at 10am local time (across 10 cities) at the location announced by GPS coordinates closest to each Snapchatter

Open the Snapchat camera, make sure Snapchat geolocation is enabled

Open the Daft Punk Lens that appears in the Lens carousel

Take part in the experience and share it with your friends via Snapchat messages or post it to your Story or Spotlight.

AR Experience #3 – Augmented Billboards: Launched the new Augmented Reality headset

From May 11 to 28, 2023, in six countries around the world, the public will be able to discover Daft Punk’s new glass helmet through an extensive outdoor advertising campaign. By scanning the QR code on the billboard, fans and Snapchatters will be able to experience the new Augmented Reality Lens while listening to Horizon.

In six countries you can enjoy the new helmet, especially in Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Sydney, London, Liverpool and Berlin, they will have the opportunity to experience it.

Open your smartphone camera

Scan the poster’s QR code

You will be redirected to your Snapchat camera

A new glass helmet will appear in gigantic size and Augmented Reality over the disc and the song Horizon will start playing

Turn the Snapchat camera towards the face to test the helmet

Share it with your close friends via Snapchat messaging, and/or post it to your Story or Spotlight
