New demolition work was underway at the Rikshospitalet in Oslo on Monday. Police were at the scene after an action group tried to prevent demolition.

– We have two officers on site, operations manager Alexander Østerhaug in the Oslo police district told NTB.

The Oslo Patient Association has asked the Planning and Development Agency (PBE) to revoke the permit for the start of the demolition work that had started at the Rikshospitalet at Ullevål Hospital on Monday morning.

They believe the work carried out was unlawful in several ways, including that they believe the demolition violated the Patient Rights Act and the rights of children.

On Monday morning, the Save Ullevål Hospital action group met at the hospital to prevent work from starting before complaints were processed.

– We do not see this as civil disobedience, but as a peaceful attempt to prevent major violations and damage, said Lene Haug, head of Redd Ullevål Hospital, in a press release.

Police said the action group entered the building on Monday morning.

– What happens next is up to those who own the building. If we receive a petition for eviction, we will have to decide on that later. At the moment, our people are talking with the parties, said Østerhaug.

NTB has contacted the Planning and Development Agency, which does not currently have the opportunity to comment on the matter.
