MADRID, September 1 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Russian authorities reported this Friday that a drone strike by Ukrainian troops damaged a building in the town of Kurchatov, located in Russia’s Kursk region, near the border with Ukraine.
The governor of the region, Roman Starovoit, has explained via his channel on the Telegram messaging network that it is an administration building, whose facade is “slightly damaged”, and has confirmed that no casualties have been recorded.
Starovoit, which minutes earlier reported two drones also affecting a residential building, has recanted and stated that “the downing of the second unmanned aerial vehicle cannot be confirmed, as the flight of the first caused confusion”.
Tensions between Ukraine and Russia have escalated in recent weeks, with an increase in drone attacks on Russian territory close to the border region, while British intelligence services suggest that Russian air defense systems will have “difficulty” in terms of detection and destruction. the drones were launched by Ukraine, after a wave of attacks carried out between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning against several provinces in the country.
