(ZENIT News / Vatican City, 24.06.2023).- On the morning of Saturday, June 24, Pope Francis received Mr. Paul Gibbard, Ambassador of Canada to the Holy See, in a private audience on the occasion of presenting his credentials. The assembly was held in the Apostolic Palace.
The new Ambassador, Mr. Paul Gibbard, was born in Nacaome (Honduras) on August 15, 1960. He is married and has children.
He holds an Anthropology degree from the University of Calgary (1983) and a Masters in Development Studies from the University of East Anglia (UK) (1985).
He has held various positions as follows: he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) in 1992; Still at the MAE, he held positions in policy planning, at the Directorate General for the Caribbean and Mexico, and for US transboundary affairs. Additionally, he is the Director of Indigenous and Arctic Affairs; worked in Costa Rica and Cuba and in the Ministry of Mexican Affairs on exchange programs; Chargé d’Affaires for political, economic, public affairs and promotional programs at Embassies in Italy, Albania, Malta and San Marino; Office of the Advisory Council on transboundary affairs between the US and Mexico; Ambassadors in Venezuela and Iraq and Head of Mission in Nigeria; He is Chargé d’Affaires at the Canadian Embassy to the Holy See (2021 – 2023).
