BAE Business | Brazil is piloting a four-day week

Brazil will implement a four-day work week, following models tested in other countries. Initiative led by consultant Reconnect Happiness and the organization 4 Day Week GlobalHe. The goal is to improve the quality of life of employees and increase company productivity. It is hoped that employees reorganize their work to be more productive in less time.

The project, which will start in September 2023 with companies registering, proposes a “100-80-100” program for Brazil, a denomination for “100% of the salary, working 80% of the time and keep 100% productivity”.

The promoter of this model has implemented it in Great Britain. There, while they were promoting, 2,900 workers from 61 companies participated, of which 92% “continued with four days a week” after the program. The organization also ensures that 39% of workers feel less stressed and so on 51% find it easier for them to balance family life with work.

“Four-day pilot allows with less working time we get the same productivity results and various other advantages. Companies that switch to a 32-hour work week see increased productivity, better talent attraction and retention, deeper customer engagement, and better employee health, well-being, and happiness.

Also benefits were observed in terms of gender equality and the environment. Its main objective is to promote new ways of working that benefit companies, employees, families and communities, address issues of gender inequality and promote workforce sustainability.
