Beeit Kjøll is challenged by Zaineb Al-Samarai – Dagsavisen

Al-Samarai (35) was scolded during part of the board meeting.

– He received very good responses from the participating board members. He did an excellent interview. We like the way he responds to things we challenge and the political signals he gives, leader Reinert Aarseth at Nordland Sports Circle told NTB.

– We might imagine a course broadcast at the peak of Norwegian sports, he added.

Decided on the finish line

The constituency of Aarseth will have four delegates voting in parliament in Bergen in the first weekend of June.

Berit Kjøll (67) decided the presidential race nearly four years ago with 50.61 percent of the vote against big favorite Sven Mollekleiv’s 49.39. Even on the night before the election in Lillehammer, not many people had envisioned the outcome.

In January charted NRK mood in Idretts-Norge and concluded that the wind was blowing towards Al-Samarai. Six of the circle then took positions supporting Al-Samarai.

At the time, Åsne Havnelid was also a candidate for the leadership position, but he resigned.

Support

164 people will elect the sports president. 75 from special associations, 75 from sports and 14 from sports councils and representatives of athletes.

Thus, a minimum of 83 votes is required to win the election.

The selection committee’s recommendations are expected to be published around April. Most indications suggest that this will be a pure presidential duel between Kjøll and Al-Samarai with no other candidate.

The last sitting on the sports council since parliament in 2019.
