Player manager warns of disaster: – Only the beginning of trouble
Premier League players and their representatives are strongly warning against the consequences of adding more time to Premier League matches this season.
The new guidelines will prevent time wastage in English football. The result is that a few more minutes will be added to the match than before.
This caused the players and the management of the Players’ Association to warn that a disaster might occur. They worry about the load.
In the Community Shield match between Manchester City and Arsenal on Sunday, eight minutes were added. Some games at level two have more than ten minutes of overtime.
Manchester United defender Raphaƫl Varane directed heavy criticism at the new guidelines on Tuesday. He pointed out that the burden on players is becoming increasingly unsustainable.
The Chairman of the Players’ Association, Maheta Molango, fully agrees.
– What (Varane) is saying is that this is not sustainable. And that’s just the start of the trouble, because this is going to be absolutely crazy. We are turning a blind eye to the impending disaster, Molango told the BBC.
– It’s getting to a stage where it’s not about us asking league management to take action. We will take it ourselves, added the association leader. (NTB)
