British Airways celebrates 75 connecting the UK with Japan

British Airways (formerly known as British Overseas Airways Corporation or BOAC) became the first British airline to operate passenger flights between England and Japan 75 years ago.

On March 19, 1948, BOAC expanding Plymouth Poole-Hong Kong class aircraft services to Iwakuni. In November, the weekly service was expanded to Yokohama, Tokyo, with seven days of flights and stops in seven cities en route: Augusta, Alexandria, Karachi, Calcutta, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Iwakuni.

For flights between London Heathrow and Tokyo Hanedathe airline has unveiled its new cabin Club Suite business class to mark the occasion. Starting October 31, British Airways will be the only airline to offer Business Class suites with full privacy doors on non-stop flights between English and Japanese.

British Airways will be offering special menus to customers in all four cabins commemorating an event created by the airline’s chef for flights between Heathrow and Haneda that will be available from September 1 to October 31.

Flat bed chair Club Suite from the airline provides direct aisle access and sliding doors for added privacy in a 1-2-1 configuration. Plus, the plane has 40% more storage space, including a vanity and mirror, WiFi, and an 18.5-inch inflight entertainment screen.

On September 1, passengers from The main class those flying to and from Tokyo will receive the best service the airline has to offer, as well as bedding and toiletries made by British luxury fashion label Temperley London, products from ELEMIS, including the renowned ULTRA SMART PRO-COLLAGEN range, and bed clothes made from recycled plastic bottles.

The most prominent

  • Flight BA 5/BA 6 between Heathrow and Haneda will be operated on Boeing 777-300ER aircraft from 31 October 2023 to 29 March 2024.
  • First Class products will be available on all flights between the UK and Japan between 1 September and 29 March 2024.
  • BA 7/BA 8 flights will be operated with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
