British Prime Minister wants to ban dog breeds after several attacks – Dagsavisen

– We will ban the breed in accordance with the law on dangerous dogs. The law will come into force by the end of this year, Sunak promised.

– I have called for immediate efforts to define and ban this breed so that we can stop these violent attacks and keep people safe, said the Prime Minister.

There have been a number of dog attacks in the UK recently. XL, the American race bully, has been involved in several incidents.

More attacks

On Thursday, a 52-year-old man died in hospital after being attacked by two intimidating Americans outside a property in Stonnall, a village north of the large city of Birmingham. The dogs also had to pay with their lives. The dog’s owner has been arrested.

Last Saturday, an eleven-year-old girl was seriously injured after she was attacked by an American bully XL and Staffordshire bull terrier mix puppy in Birmingham. The dog’s owner has also been arrested.

– Behavior patterns

– It is clear that this is not about a handful of poorly trained dogs. “This is a pattern of behavior and cannot continue,” Sunak said of the attacks.

The American Bully XL is the largest variety of the American Bully breed, a type of bulldog bred from several dogs, including the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Bulldog, and English Bulldog, according to BBC.

The pit bull terrier, tosa, American mastiff and fila brasileiro breeds have been banned in the UK.

Pitbull Terriers are among six dog breeds banned in Norway, according to Norwegian Food Safety Authority. This prohibition also applies to mixtures that include one or more of these breeds, regardless of the mixing ratio.
