– We made a clear error in judgment. Therefore, we have taken the decision not to republish the series, said broadcasting manager Vibeke Fürst Haugen.
In a press conference on Wednesday, he said that NRK omitted relevant information in the case, and this was something they should not have done.
– I am very sorry that this series has become a burden on the family. “I would like to offer an unconditional apology to them, and to those who were offended in the 1991 case,” Haugen said.
– For me, it is important to take time in this process to ensure that we do a thorough assessment. People must have confidence in NRK and our journalism, that is very important for us, he said.
There are many judgments on the basis of which the series will no longer be published, Haugen said. He said NRK had considered editing existing series.
– We haven’t found a solution for that, he said.
According to broadcasting managers, NRK must now thoroughly review its procedures and routines so that situations like this do not happen again.
– We have to go through the entire timeline and see what happened to make this error a fact, Haugen said.
He confirmed that Tore Strømøy will remain associated with NRK.
