Burt Bacharach has died aged 94 – NRK Culture and entertainment

Burt Bacharach is for many the soundtrack of the 1960s and 70s.

Among the hits he wrote were “Do You Know the Way to San Jose”, “Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head” and “I Say A Little Prayer For You.”

Her songs are performed by stars such as Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin and the Carpenters, and are not only played on radio stations around the world, they are also featured in major motion pictures.

Bacharach won Oscars for music in the films “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” in 1970, and “Arthur” in 1982. He has also won six Grammy awards. Bacharach is considered one of the most influential songwriters of the last century.

Press contact Tina Brausam stated that Bacharach died at her Los Angeles home on Wednesday of natural causes.

Bacharach lived to be 94 years old.

500 songs

Bacharach was born on May 12, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri, and grew up in Queens, New York City. He studied songwriting at several American universities.

And the results are vast: 500 songs, recorded by more than 1200 artists. Elvis Presley, The Beatles and Frank Sinatra were among those to release covers of Bacharach’s songs.

In total, he scored 73 top 40 hits in the US and 52 in the UK.

Bacharach is married to songwriter Carole Bayer Sager and actress Angie Dickinson.
