Chocoshow 2023, the exhibition that showcases the entire value chain of the cocoa subsector and takes place in Corferias until November 26, is a stage to highlight the cocoa sector and its derivatives, which consists of two links: the production of cocoa beans and the manufacture of products derived from cocoa, cocoa liquid, cocoa butter, cocoa powder, chocolate and confectionery.
The event, organized by the National Federation of Cocoa Farmers – FEDECACAO and Corferias, is also a business conference venue. In this space articulated with PROPAÍS, buyers and sellers of the cocoa and chocolate sector are present.
The event was attended by around 70 small and medium entrepreneurs, including producers and cocoa farmer associations from various regions in the country who will offer their products to 20 large companies.
In this fifth business round, participation is free of charge and participants can register on the PROPAÍS website and meet potential clients, suppliers and quality products. Large companies such as Amor Perfecto, Bycao, Cacao Hunter, Distrito Col, FYM Chocolates, Nestlé, Juan Valdés, Cencosud, among others participate in this commercial space.
In the previous edition (2022), according to Propaís, the roundtable exceeded $5,000 million in potential business, and there were international buyers from Mexico, France, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Switzerland, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United States. On that occasion, direct purchases were recorded at more than US$148,000 and projected six-month purchases amounted to US$822,300, with the participation of 28 Colombian exporters.
Cocoa Subsector
On the other hand, it cannot be denied that the exhibition is an ideal place to highlight the potential of the Colombian cocoa subsector, which has an ambitious growth vision by 2032, as the country hopes to become a leader in production and sales. cocoa and its derivatives in the region. In addition, this subsector is projected as an export platform to high potential areas, becoming a driver of job creation and sustainable, environmental and economic development.
The great aspirations of this segment of the national economy are based on having high quality products, because the country has ideal conditions for producing various types of cocoa, which constitute 95 % of its total cocoa production. meets the condition of “delicate and aromatic”, as maintained by the International Cocoa Organization (ICCO).
It should be noted that in 2022 the cocoa subsector will contribute 0.6% to agricultural GDP with production of 62,158 tons of cocoa.
About the exhibition
Chocoshow 2023 is an exhibition where visitors will enjoy experiences around cocoa together, with space to learn about the potential of chocolate in all its manifestations. This is the scenario of visibility, experience and knowledge of the cocoa and chocolate subsector in Colombia.
The exhibition, which is entering its fifth edition, is expected to be attended by 18,000 visitors, gathering in a space to have fun and share with family.
